An appeal for
construction

HASCO News, August 14
About 20 km away
from Kabul City on the right side of the Kabul-Mazar e sharif main road, there
is a Village called Bangulak. Most of the inhabitants of the village are
Afghan returnees from refugee camps in Pakistan and Iran, like the majority of
Afghan families, most of the these villagers have three, four, and even five school-age
children. The total number of school-age children of the village is more then two hundred.
On the request of
village elders three years ago, the Ministry of Education of Afghanistan
established a primary school in Bangolak village to provide education for
school children of the village, but unfortunately the school is still without
a building and basic facilities.
Although four
tents were placed three years ago for the school, they are no longer
effective in protecting the school children from rain waters and sun radius. This year the situation became so bad that all of the families chose not to
send their school-age children to school.
On June 15, elders
of the village sent a letter to HASCO Organization, asking for urgent
assistance in construction of a new school for their children. The villagers
informed HASCO that they already donated one Jarib land for construction of a
new school and they are ready to contribute more to the construction process
of the school.
To assist these
children, HASCO opened two community base home schools as a temporary solution
of the educational need of the village and also provided them with school
supplies and other class necessities. However, tens of school-age boys and
girls are out of school because our two home schools can not accommodate all
school-age children of the village.
We appeal to
International help organizations, educational and grant-providing Institutions
/ Foundations, as well as the generous people, to assist the
villagers in the construction of a primary school for their children.
Please see some
pictures of the Bangolak school.
